Introducing a new series to The Journal, At Home With gives you a glimpse of the favourite spaces in some of the most stylish homes and we're delighted to begin by showing you around the home of award-winning content creator Victoria Magrath, aka In The Frow. Impeccably designed, her colourful countryside home is brimming with beautiful decor, every room as covetable as the next.
On her interior style, Victoria describes the look as extremely eclectic, she shares, ‘In some rooms, I have gone for a Parisian feel, others Scandi, I create a space depending on what I intend to use that area for. In our bedroom, I wanted serenity and calm and so I went for whites and linens, whereas in the hallway, I wanted an immediate statement pattern as soon as you walk in, so we went for checkerboard tiles. ‘
On where to find inspiration, she says, ‘I follow a lot of great home accounts via my dedicated home Instagram account @frowhome - I've found so many hidden gems and beautiful design ideas that way. Really though, it’s through years of searching Pinterest for various homeware pieces that I have come across the type of design aesthetics I really love.’
Let us show you around…
A spacious entrance that defines the liveable luxe look, this hallway has all the inspiration you need to give your guests the wow factor upon arrival. From the polished patterned tiles to the painted railings, emulate the look by opting for a decadent palette of black, white and gold.
‘I think the hallway is my favourite area - mainly due to the amount of time it took us to get it to this point’ notes Victoria. ‘The black and white floor against the matching walls, skirting and white units makes my eyes swoon every time - especially when we have the fire on in this space, it feels extremely cosy and elevated.’
‘One of the main selling points for us when we purchased the property was the open plan kitchen and orangery. It already felt like the heart of the house and so we wanted our guests to feel relaxed, comfortable and at home. In the kitchen, I wanted a colour that would wear well over the years whilst being bold and full of character.’ says Victoria.
The kitchen marries classic country design with cool contemporary influences. The rich colour, Farrow & Ball Railings, also works beautifully as a contrast to the lighter floor and crisp worktops and we especially love how the bespoke cabinetry in the kitchen is adorned with modern textured brass hardware from our Sparkbrook collection to give the cupboards and drawers a statement look.
A tranquil space focusing on functionality, the pantry is understated in its design with sage green cabinets adding a subtle hint of colour to the otherwise minimalist decor. Victoria styles with a simple vase of flowers to enhance the fresh feel of the room whilst keeping clutter to a minimum.
The pantry allows the smaller design details to naturally draw the eye and so the choice of golden brass cabinet hardware and fixtures bring interest. Finished with uniform textured cupboard knobs to match those from the kitchen, Victoria’s pantry presents a flawless less is more look.
The Dressing Room
There's no denying this light-filled space will give you serious dressing room envy. Effortlessly elegant, the combination of materials and textures Victoria has chosen work together beautifully to elevate the design and add a truly luxurious feel - a dream area to get ready in by all accounts.
Victoria shares, ‘I wanted my cabinetry to be chic and sophisticated without the frills. Just a utilitarian set-up with an elegant finish. That's where the handles come in - their satin gold finish and elongated design make the white wood feel so much more expensive and luxurious, immediately heightening the overall experience in the space.’
Matching the tone of the handles from our Belgrave collection with a large chandelier to the centre of the room, Victoria opted for a statement panelled mirror from our Claremont collection to complete the look.
‘With its brushed brass finish and art deco angles, the mirror is the most exquisite feature in my dressing room. It is of the most superb quality and stands so proudly on my makeup table against the Arabescato marble. It looks so wonderfully luxurious, I absolutely adore it.’
