9 Ways to Create a Luxury Spa Bathroom at Home

For the most part, the rooms in our homes are designed with function in mind. But that doesn’t mean we can’t romanticise the roles of each space, and the bathroom is the perfect place to create a spa retreat at home. As with any interior, there are different aesthetic routes you can take. In this powder room by Pittsburgh-based Interiors by Seashal, rich walnut cabinetry is set against a neutral tile backdrop. Natural stone in bathrooms instantly brings a luxurious, soothing feel, especially when that stone is white marble. Sophie Paterson Interiors used it to line the shower and the top of the vanity, in small doses that don’t overwhelm the room. Grand designs don’t have to be for luxury hotel suites only. In the primary bathroom in Lauren Sullivan from Well by Design’s Tennessee home, a true sanctuary has been created, with an open archway that provides views out to the garden and a serene lounge area for relaxing post-bath. Minimalism doesn’t always equal stark white. Take cues from California-based Bette Abbott and create a masculine-meets-sophisticated feel in your bathroom with a two-tone design instead. In this serene contemporary spa bathroom, the vanity is the focal point.
