Welcome to a story of style without measure.
Our latest Interior Insights features the Kingsmead project by Krantz Design, an exceptional three-storey Edwardian remodel where every detail in the hotel-inspired home has been meticulously considered. With project notes from both designer and client, this is a truly insightful look at transforming a forever-home vision into reality.
What began as a kitchen project soon evolved into a whole house remodel for this Lincolnshire-based home, with the addition of an orangery too. Working over a year and a half together, the project was a truly collaborative process with Krantz meeting their clients on a Friday afternoon over a bottle of champagne to discuss ideas and finalise design details, including our luxury brass hardware collections which feature throughout.
The client’s inspiration began by focusing on a design that was functional. Homeowner Mandy shares, “We needed that day-to-day practicality along with a relaxing space to unwind from our busy lives. Our brief was very much ‘hotel style’ so we could experience that luxury of feeling like we were away within our own home.”
Interior Insights: The Entrance
Homeowners Mandy and Christian love to entertain and so their multifaceted entrance presents an experience for guests as soon as they enter the property. A cloakroom sits next to a luxury home bar so the couple can take coats and make drinks on arrival.
Krantz Creative Director, Maria Constantinou shares, “It was really important to me that the design of the entrance really captured what was to come with the rest of the journey through the home. The entrance lobby, through to the hallway bar cabinet and powder room formed the perfect setting to greet guests and gave a wonderful insight for what’s to come for the rest of the interior.”

Interior Insights: The Kitchen
The room that began the project, the two-tone kitchen is layered with innovative and thoughtful bespoke features. From a hidden chopping block to cabinets created to house the exact size of every utensil owned, the design achieves the pinnacle of detail.
Maria notes, “Symmetry was everything with this design and it really is a chef’s kitchen. The pantry storage and refrigeration at the rear were the datum point to the whole design which run symmetrically to the orangery extension.”

Mandy notes, “We didn’t want our kitchen to look like everything else you see e.g. stools along the bar edge so we used an old table to add a walnut top for a round seating space.”

Interior Insights: The Boot Room
An atmospheric boot room moment, rich forest green cabinetry and panelling bring the outdoors in and add a modern heritage feel to the utilitarian space whilst offering a contrast to the lighter side of the room.
Homeowner Mandy comments, “We love the contrast between the two areas in this space and especially how the hardware stands out against the darker cabinetry.”

Maria shares, "When we design these types of rooms, we always start with function over form, however, this space really does showcase that a practical room can also be beautiful too.”
Directly opposite the full-height boot room cabinetry, the space features a flower arranging station with a Belfast sink, White Carerra marble worktops and under-sink storage framed by a chevron tile backdrop and antique brass wall lights.

Interior Insights: The Cinema Room
At the heart of the three-storey property sits an impressive cinema room. Showcasing custom-made cabinetry, a dramatic midnight blue canvas forms a luxurious and comforting setting with antique brass details elevating the decadent space beautifully.

Maria reflects, “I wanted the room to have an elegant design layered with beautiful materials. These details really add to the experience of this luxury home cinema and the lighting design played a huge part in creating the right ambience for the interior.”

Interior Insights: The Master Suite
The breathtaking master suite creates an impact on entry with a luxurious statement headboard that gives the room symmetrical access to each side of the bed, leading to 'his and hers’ dressing room areas before arriving at the main bathroom.

Maria notes, “‘My favourite design from the project is the bedroom - and is quite possibly one of my favourite designs in my career. We worked hard to make sure it evoked a feeling and as you walk in, it makes you feel so calm and relaxed. The open space here presented a challenge as we were briefed with a duo of dressing rooms within the master suite.”
A central headboard creates zones in the room and dressing areas are positioned back to back with screwed cabinets to save space. The two sides are a balance of masculine and feminine, creating further definition in the open plan room.

Interior Insights: The Guest Bedroom
As part of the remodelling project, Mandy and Christian chose to convert their existing bathroom into an additional guest bedroom and en-suite. Maria shares “The use of mirror on the bespoke headboard detail made what felt originally a very tight space, feel a spacious inviting room to enjoy and we repeated the mirrored details all the way through the room. A freestanding bed with floating drawers each side instead of solid bedside tables also gave the illusion of more space.”
