The Cotswold Collection with Blakes London

We are delighted to share our recent project with design-led kitchen and joinery company, Blakes London. An exceptionally beautiful and timeless kitchen, the design features our best-selling Cotswold collection drawer pulls, mushroom knobs and catches, all in a charming burnished brass finish.

As well as complementing the light-coloured cabinetry, we love how the burnished brass hardware helps to accentuate the abundance of clean, crisp white lines that surround it.

This elegant, handcrafted kitchen features a practical boot room, strategically hidden behind a stud wall that makes up the sink run. This amount of dedicated storage space is rare for a centrally located home in the city of London and really showcases the attention to detail by Blakes London.

The metro tiles at the back of this cupboard add a whole new dimension to the unit and create a focal point to display the china and glassware inside.

Although light and airy on the surface, this kitchen is surprisingly cosy with the burnished brass Cotswold handles bringing warmth throughout. With precise proportions for each display unit, this helps to achieve a perfectly balanced and harmonious room, fit for any family’s needs.

Behind the design

We had the pleasure of interviewing Jamie Blake, Founder and Creative Director of Blakes London. Here, he shares his thoughts and inspiration behind this beautiful kitchen design.

Where did your inspiration come from when designing this kitchen?

The vast space as well as the glazing were the primary inspiration in designing a layout that optimised the feeling of space and light! The client has Spanish origin and wanted a Mediterranean feeling to the space - we achieved this by introducing tiling and keeping wall cabinetry to a minimum.

What is your favourite element of this kitchen?

This kitchen is an example of considered design at its best, I’m not sure I could point to just one element as my favourite. The success of this design is its seeming simplicity. On closer inspection, design enthusiasts will notice a complexity of design that seamlessly pulls together design trends from different eras. Industrial crittall style glazing, popular in the 70’s and very of the moment, is combined with turn-of-the-century style metro tiles and 18th-century shaker inspired cabinetry. The result is a warm elegant space perfect for modern family living.

Why did you choose Armac Martin to supply the handles?

Armac Martin has become one of our go-to suppliers for excellent quality handles. On this occasion, the elegant style of the Cotswold collection suited the design of the cabinetry. The client expressed an interest in a natural un-lacquered brass finish and the Cotswold collection delivers time and again!
