Armac Martin Supports United in Design

We are proud to announce that we have partnered with United in Design, a charitable organisation founded by Sophie Ashby and Alexandria Dauley, to address the need for more diversity within the interior design industry.

As a supplier to the global interior design sector for almost 95 years, we are committed to supporting United in Design in its mission to deliver an equal opportunity pathway for entry into the industry for people from black, Asian, ethnic minority, and socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

As part of this, we have recently undergone diversity and inclusion training with United in Design to help improve inclusion and diversity throughout both the interior design sector and its business operations.

Alexandria Dauley, Co-Founder of United in Design, said: “The team at United in Design is thrilled that Armac Martin is joining us on our journey to create a more inclusive and diverse industry. Sharing their resources and wealth of knowledge with our community is invaluable, and we look forward to collaborating with them.”

Based in Birmingham since our inception in 1929, ourpartnership with United in Design forms part of our longstanding dedication to supporting the next generation in entering the manufacturing and interior design industries, whilst also creating a more inclusive and diverse work culture.

This includes providing apprenticeships across all divisions of the business, whilst also offering employees continuous opportunities for further training and education to support their career development.

Lucy Anker, Head of HR at Armac Martin, said: “We are delighted to have partnered with United in Design as we commit to taking positive action and leading by example to help address the lack of diversity throughout the UK interior design industry. We are currently identifying opportunities to achieve this, including apprenticeship and mentorship schemes, and we look forward to building on the partnership throughout 2024.”

As part of this, we are committed to working with United in Design to broaden its reach outside of London, whilst encouraging other Birmingham-based businesses to help foster a more inclusive and diverse industry across the UK.
